MIAA Tournament Committee News:
At our recent MIAA Tournament Committee the following changes were voted into effect immediately.
Pole Vault and implement check-in starts at 1:30p.m.
Also being looked at is how to handle athletes in two field events in the same flight in the MIAA meets. An example if an athlete is in the 3rd flight in the javelin and discus, how do you handle this? Answer as of now: call the meet director before the meet and make a change in one event. An example would be athlete A would move from flight three in the discus to flight one and remain in flight three in the javelin. This would give the athlete a change to get in three throws without running back and forth between the events in the trials.
MIAA Sub-Committee looking at the future of track and cross country in Massachusetts will meet on 8/16. If you have any ideas about changes in the MIAA format that is used as a guideline for the state tournaments please pass them onto Dick Baker at the MIAA as soon as possible. A few examples would be where does the high jump go in the indoor schedule of events? Should it stay where it is or should be have hurdles and dash events before the high jump?
Where should the 2 mile go in the order of events if we are starting the all state meet at 3:00? Should we have a two day All State Meet?
